Project Description

Wolfgang Candy Company was founded all the way back in 1921 in York, Pennsylvania. It’s a family run businesses with a lot of history that produces sweet treats, chocolates, and confectionary items. In 2016 their business transitioned from retail to wholesale which necessitated a whole new website design, branding identity, and marketing strategy to align with their new identity as a B2B co-manufacturing company called Wolfgang Confectioners.

Project Goals

  • Design a mobile responsive website that communicates Wolfgang’s new branding and business transition with clear and clean front-end design.
  • Demonstrate Wolfgang’s capabilities, experience, and expertise to attract potential clients.
  • Intuitive and straightforward navigation and design flow to make information easy to find for potential co-manufacturing clients.

How this was accomplished

  • Step One – Research. Every thorough project starts with research into market competitors. From there I observed what was working, what wasn’t working, and how we could improve upon UX design for the new Wolfgang website.
  • Step Two – Design. From there I took the new branding identity guidelines and drafted up detailed wireframes of how the new website would look and feel.
  • Step Three – Development. Once the wireframes were approved, I got to coding on WordPress using the Divi interface with custom modifications.
  • Step Four – Deployment. After testing mobile and cross-browser compatibility, and sending through for client approval, went live.

Client review

Chaucee has completed two different website redesigns for our company. Each time she used her creativity mixed with her clean design to build something that is appealing to our customers on many fronts. She took the time to listen, build and make changes the site needed for the betterment of the company. We would happily recommend Chaucee to anyone looking to build a site that is visually appealing and user-friendly. I know we certainly will be the next site we build.”

Having well-designed brand assets for marketing use, website design, and print materials for your business is absolutely essential in this day and age. But not everyone has the budget to keep a designer on retainer. But fear not! There is a way to create compelling graphics without breaking the bank.

If you haven’t heard of Canva, it’s an online photo editor that is easy to use and also has lots of templates and designs to choose from if creativity isn’t your strong suit.

They have premade templates sized and optimized for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and more. Below is a helpful video tutorial to show you how to use Canva and get started on design custom social media graphics for your business.

The Essentials: Photo Resources

The Essentials: Photo Resources

As we’ve discussed before, having beautiful and clear photos are essential to marketing your business. But sometimes you don’t have the time to set up a photoshoot for a simple social graphic. Luckily, there are some really great photo resources out there to help fill this need.

UnSplash is the largest photo library of high-resolution professional photos. And get this … it’s totally free. I know, right? Dreams do come true.

Creative Market

Creative Market is another great resource for photography. They also have a plethora of design assets from fonts, to templates, business card designs, and more!

If you’re looking for mouth-watering food photos then Foodiesfeed should be your first stop. Beautiful, high-resolution photos of foods of all kinds.

Pixabay is another great FREE photo resource. You’re also able to download the photos in whatever resolution you need which saves on hard drive space.

Four Free Fonts

No matter what project you are working on, whether it be a blog post, a website, or a social media graphic, it’s all about the content. When choosing fonts for your project it’s important to keep in mind what you’re trying to communicate. For more inspirational social posts you may want to select a script font, whereas, for a project communicating an important message about your company, you may want to go with a straight-forward serif. However, the most important thing to remember is to choose a clear and readable font. Here are a few of my favorite FREE fonts I’ve used in a variety of designs.
